YAMAZAKI TSUKURIWAKE SELECTION 2020 EDITIONS
Suntory has released 5 component bottles as a new “Yamazaki 2020 Edition” series on November 4, bottled as part of the Tsukuriwake selection. They aren’t available at retail. Instead, you’ll need to head to a bar to find them, while the bottles themselves have now been released, it looks like they aren’t available to the general public. Instead, as we’ve seen with the various THE ESSENCE OF SUNTORY WHISKY releases.
YAMAZAKI PUNCHEON 2020 EDITION (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
This stunning Sherry Puncheon Yamazaki was distilled at the world famous distillery before being matured in a sherry cask that has imparted a range of rich, fruity and spicy notes onto the smooth, creamy spirit.
YAMAZAKI BORDEAUX WINE CASK 2020 EDITION (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
This limited edition single malt was then matured in a Bordeaux Wine Cask that has added a gentle sweetness to the spirit that is backed up a subtle sourness that arrives on the finish. It's a fruity, complex and rich expression.
YAMAZAKI SPANISH OAK 2020 EDITION (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
This is the result of the spirit being rigorously matured in sherry-seasoned casks made of top quality and highly valued oak from northern Spain. As with other sherried whiskies, this has a delicately rich and luxurious palate teeming with both fresh and cooked fruit aromas, as one would anticipate from a component used by Yamazaki as a classic flavour depth enhancer
YAMAZAKI PEATED MALT 2020 EDITION (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
The use of peated malt is rare for the distillery, but in this instance it provides a touch of smoke that nicely complements the nutty, fruit-centric profile, but they are few and far between and only a tiny portion of peated spirit goes into their flagship expressions.
YAMAZAKI MIZUNARA 2020 EDITION (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
Mizunara (Japanese Oak) is famous for imparting its own characteristics onto the whisky stored within them such as sandalwood and other notes.
