THE TSUKURIWAKE SERIES 2024
This collection of four exceptional whiskies offers fresh perspective on two of the world’s great single malts. The Yamazaki Golden Promise – made with heritage barley – and The Yamazaki Islay Peated Malt show us different aspects of the famed distillery’s fruity and refined character. While the Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt increases the smokiness found in Hakushu’s flagship whiskies, creating an elegant palate of citrus oils and green tea wrapped in delicate, refined peat. Collectors will also be excited to see in the lineup an 18-year-old Yamazaki matured entirely in precious Mizunara casks. Filled with notes of apricots, sandalwood, yellow plums and incense, this is Yamazaki at its very best.
YAMAZAKI 18 YEAR OLD MIZUNARA (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
Japanese oak has been essential to Yamazaki since the very beginning. This finely crafted single malt was exclusively matured in precious mizunara oak casks, creating a distinctive palate of incense, coconut and sandalwood. Stone fruits and spices persist over a long, complex finish, reminding us that no distillery does Japanese oak quite like Yamazaki.
YAMAZAKI GOLDEN PROMISE (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
Golden Promise barley was used to make some of the greatest single malt whiskies of the 20th century. Over time, it was phased out in favour of newer hybrids, but distillers are now rediscovering this exceptional variety. Yamazaki Golden Promise is richly textured with hallmark notes of pineapple, citrus oils and vanilla.
YAMAZAKI ISLAY PEATED MALT (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
A rare peated Yamazaki, this elegant single malt was made with peat cut on the Scottish island of Islay. Sweet smoke and notes of crème brûlée sit alongside mandarin oranges, apricots and ginger biscuits. This is a perfect combination of two great whisky producing cultures – Japanese single malt with smoke from the Hebrides.
HAKUSHU 18 YEAR OLD PEATED MALT (Volume 700ml / Abv.48%)
Hakushu, nestled in the Japanese Alps, is one of the most versatile distilleries in the world. While its signature single malts all have a touch of smokiness, this expression puts peated spirit front and centre. In the glass, you’ll find Hakushu’s distinctive apple and grapefruit notes, coated with crisp smoke and herbal honey.
