Prologue W is Shizuoka Distillery's second single malt Japanese whiskey.
W is the nickname for the one and only wood-fired distillation machine. There are only a limited number of open-fire distillers in the world, and among them, the one that uses wood as fuel is unique. Local lumberjacks hand-split each piece of coniferous thinned wood from Shizuoka's rich mountain life into firewood. Reviving a distillation technique from over 200 years ago, we burn wood to distill our whiskey.
The raw materials are mainly barley malt produced in Japan, as well as peated malt and beer malt produced in Scotland. You can enjoy the youthfulness of this 3-year aged wine, as well as its gentle aroma, firm body, light smokiness, and long, gentle aftertaste. Please enjoy the rich flavor that can only be enjoyed over an open wood fire.
