THE ESSENCE OF SUNTORY WHISKY 2020 VOL:4
These are both 2020 additiona to The Essence of Suntory Whisky series. In a first for Suntory, Rice Whisky was distilled at the Osumi distillery in Kagoshima, which Suntory have owned since 2014. The plant primarily distils shochu under The Osumi brand, but has also produced this malt-based "rice whisky" (not that traditional rice whisky in Japan is made using koji). Also included is the Chita Sakura Cask Finsih Blend, a vatting of 2000 vintage "clean type" Chita single grain which has been finished in Sakura wood casks for its final three years. The previous fifteen were in white oak.
THE ESSENCE OF SUNTORY 2020 RICE WHISKY (Volume 500ml / Abv.56%)
Crafted at the Osumi Sake brewery, this rice whisky has been bottled as part of the 2020 Essence of Suntory releases. It has been produced using rice as it's main ingredient which has been saccharified with malt and fermented before the distillation process. As part of a limited edition release, this whisky has been bottled at a strength of 56% abv.
THE ESSENCE OF SUNTORY WHISKY 2020 CHITA SAKURA CASK (Volume 500ml / Abv.50%)
This is a blend of clean-type Chita grain whiskies distilled in 2000, then aged in white oak casks for at least 15 years. Afterwards, they were aged for at least 3 years in Sakura wood casks. Suntory says we should expect a Sakura mochi-like aroma and palate. 500ml, 50% abv.
